Pre-selling your products or services for better conversion

Pre-selling is the act of warming up your prospect, or getting them ready to purchase. You want them to be licking their chops and excited to buy. You don't need to worry about actually selling the book, that is what the sales page does. The more you can the prospect excited about it, the higher conversions you will have, and the more money you will make.

Part of the pre-sell is to make sure only qualified prospects show up. You can send your affiliate link to anyone, but if they have no interest in helping their dogs, don't have a dog, or know anyone with a dog, then it is probably wasting your time to send them the information and link.

The more 'qualified' prospects you send to the sales page that are warmed up and ready to buy, the more successful you will be in the long term. Just sending people straight to the sales page with no information or pre-sell could create confusion, 'why am I here?'

Your focus as an affiliate marketer should always be to build credibility and value for the product in the eyes of the prospect prior to sending them to the sales letter. By the time the prospect visits the Dog Skin Solutions page they are excited to learn more, and has a positive feeling about the book.

There is no one right way to do this, so get creative. There are different ways to pre-sell your prospect. The most important aspect is to be a trusted advisor to your database. The more they trust you, the more they will want to buy from you or products you recommend.

Pre-selling separates the tire kickers or freebie seekers from prospects that have a need or desire for the book and information and are willing and ready to buy. The more effectively you pre-sell the program, the higher your conversions and profits will be.

Here is an example of an average pre-sell vs. a highly effective pre-sell:

Option #1: Placing a text link on your website that reads: “Click Here To Learn How To Heal Your Dog's Skin Problems Naturally!”

Option #2: Placing a picture of the cover of the book. Underneath is a caption that reads “Discover How Linda Kajda, a fellow dog owner whose dog had almost no fur left, and with her own natural remedies healed her dog back to a full body of healthy thick hair by clicking here!” The visitor then clicks on the ad and is taken to a page that contains one of the book reviews. At the bottom of the review is a picture of the book and a link that directs the visitor to the website.

It is easy to see that the 2nd option is going to pre-sell and warm up the prospect a lot more than the 1st. It also qualifies the prospect. Only a truly interested visitor will click onto the sales page to buy. Your conversions will be a lot higher.

There are many ways to pre-sell, and it is so important to do this step. Just remember, instead of sending prospects directly to the sales page with little or no explanation, send your traffic to your website where you either:

1. Write a review on the book, and how it has helped you or a someone you know.

2. Write a testimonial of the results you have achieved using the information in the book.

3. Write a relevant article with a resource box and a link to the Dog Skin Solutions website.

4. Write a short sales letter that pre-sells the book. (Please do not copy the Dog Skin Solutions sales letter. It is copy protected, and will be confusing to the prospect if they were to see 2 identical pages).

I take your success very seriously. The more you succeed, the more I succeed, it is a true team effort. I have created a lot of content you can use to effectively pre-sell the book. Just visit the marketing tools section and you'll find a lot of pre-selling material that you need: articles, pictures, banners, reviews, sample pre-selling sales letters and much more.

If you are serious about developing pre-selling techniques, check out a book by one of the best online marketers of all time, sitesell.com founders, Ken Evoy. It is titled, "Make Your Content Pre-sell."
